The mission of Piney Woods Christian Academy is to serve parents by providing a Christ centered education composed of grammar, logic, rhetoric and the mathematical arts which teaches students to learn for themselves and trains them to utilize these tools to become effective Christian leaders.
Piney Woods Christian Academy will develop young adults who can eloquently and persuasively defend and share their faith with others. They will be able to think critically and logically when they enter the workforce or post-secondary institutions. They will be equipped to identify false teachers and defend their faith with knowledge, wisdom and grace.
Our teachers and staff will be above reproach in all areas of their lives and will stand tall as Christian examples in our community. They will have the heart of a servant and will work diligently to serve parents as the parents themselves fulfill their God-given duty to teach their children.
Our parents will be active in the education of their children as outlined in scripture. They will be encouraged to join us in our daily activities and be role models not only for their children, but for all the children in the school.
We will be above reproach in all that we do and will be supportive of our community churches. We will give God all the honor and glory for allowing us to be His vessels in this endeavor.
We believe God is the sole creator and sovereign ruler of the universe and all that is in it (Genesis 1:1, 26, 27; Romans 1:20).
We believe Jesus is the Messiah spoken of by the prophets of the Old Testament (Acts 2:22-36; Matthew 1:21-22).
We believe Jesus is the son of God and He was willing to temporarily give up His position in Heaven to be born of a woman and take on flesh to become son of man to save us from our sins. We believe He lived a sinless life on this earth even though He was tempted in every way and willingly offered Himself as a perfect sacrifice for all men and women by dying on a cross for our sins. (Hebrews 4:14-15; Galatians 1:3-4).
We believe on the third day He was raised from the dead and ascended back to Heaven with his promise to return and God gave Him all authority to judge mankind in the end of time (Acts 1:9-11; John 5:25-29; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18).
We believe the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God, fully divine. He inspired holy men of old to write scripture. Through illumination He enables men to understand truth. He exalts Christ. He convicts men of sin, of righteousness and of judgment.
We believe the Bible is God’s Holy Word which was spoken and written by individuals who were inspired by God from the book of Genesis to Revelation. The writers understood and insisted that the words they penned were accurate and factual, and should be accepted, not based on a lack of evidence or a “shot in the dark” but on abundant and verifiable proof (2 Timothy 3:16-17; Matthew 7:21; 2 John 9).
We believe that salvation from sin and spiritual death is offered by God through His sacrifice of Jesus Christ and His grace (Ephesians 2:1-10; Titus 2:11; Romans 3:20-26). Salvation is a free gift and cannot be achieved through good works or self-improvement on our part, it is truly a gift from God. All people have sinned and fall short of God’s glory, but all people can be saved (Romans 3:23; Acts 2:39).
We believe God created marriage to be between one man and one woman in a “one-flesh” union for life, uniquely reflecting Christ’s relationship with his church (Gen 2:18-25; Eph 5:21-33). Marriage also serves as the foundational unit of a stable society (1 Cor 7:2). It provides the best environment for children, and the decline in life-long, heterosexual marriage relationships is a significant contributor to many negative cultural developments.
We believe gender matters to God. God’s creation of each person as male and female is complementary within marriage and reflects the image and nature of God (Gen 1:26-27). Those who reject their biological sex reject God’s design and the person He created them to be.
We believe that Christian parents have the responsibility before God to provide their children with a godly understanding of the world in which they are growing up. To this end, Christian education, however administered, is essential (Deuteronomy 6:1-6). The civil government has no duty or obligation to rear or educate our children. That authority has been given to the parents, with ultimate accountability having been assigned to the father (Ephesians 6:4).
We believe that human life is sacred and created by God in His image. Human life is of inestimable worth in all its dimensions, including pre-born babies, the aged, the physically or mentally challenged, and every other stage or condition from conception through natural death. We are therefore called to defend, protect, and value all of human life. ( Psalm 139)
